Yes, we only have seven periods. We start at eight, now. Budget cuts.
The first few days were pretty good--the first day was freshman orientation, so we had a day tacked on to the regular upperclassmen school year. There are only four other kids in my grade in my Spanish class--two girls (Milan and Carlia), a guy (Alec), and this kid that used to go to my Junior High named Dylan. Alec is one of the quietest people I've ever met, but he's adorable. In a pinch-yo'-cheeks kind of way. Really, though. :'D He's only talked twice in the past few days--once my name and once an answer to a question. Good kid, regardless. He tried to sit in front of me, but Senora Mai put us in alphabetical order, which means I'm behind Dylan anyway. Which reminds me; I honestly thought Dylan was a crazy guy, but after seeing him without any of his friends in the two periods I share with him (first and third), he's... shy. I dunno. It makes me a little sad. I want to befriend the two girls, too, because (along with Dylan and Alec) we're obvious bb ninth graders in a huge class. Hahahahaha... eh. : |
Speaking of taking an interest in people, there's a Junior in Algebra that likes Jimi Hendrix and awkward cartoons. I want to know this chick.
I have a lot of classes with Connor, which is cool because I haven't seen him properly since sixth grade (and his new friends, Erika and James, are the best)... but none with Chase, Ciera, Nick, or Maddie. ._. I'm especially upset about the first two and the fact that they're not in my Orchestra class after two years of sticking together.
Orchestra, though. I will always love Mrs. Gaulke, but Vansant is great. She's so reliant on technology that it's kind of funny--like a teenager trapped in a middle-aged body. In fact, she made us put her cell in our phones and vice-versa so that we can't make "Wait... I didn't know about suchandsuch" excuses. Veeeery smart, Mrs. V. (Oh, no. Not calling. She texts... exclusively. On her brand-new Blackberry Curve. I told you she was like a technology-reliant teenager.)
Ms. Lemick. I've been loved by and I have loved my past two English teachers--Mr. North and Gillenwater--so she can never compare, but she's a sweetheart nonetheless. I can definitely say I'm pleasantly surprised; after the sheer length of the summer assignments, I thought she'd be horrible. And our class the tiniest, which is also a plus. Our science teacher is Elliot's stepmom, and I love her despite the fact that she loves Twilight. Haha, but really. Even though I dislike the series, it definitely humanizes her (and she earned over nine thousand cool points with T-Bag for being "Team Jacob" or something). History teacher likes Twilight, too. As does everyone in the class, except for me and two guys--Justin is a fellow Harry Potter geek, and Chris/Juan is some kind of Eragon fanboy.
All in all, it's cool, but I miss last year.
